Entanglement
A situation or relationship that entangles, confuses or ensnares
The condition of being wrapped and twisted together in a mass
The condition of being deeply involved.
The phenomenon in which the quantum state of each particle in a group cannot be described independently of the state of the others, even when the particles are separated by a large distance.
Entanglement is a complex and not easily undone state of interconnectedness.
Often given a negative spin and used to describe ties that are restrictive and limiting, "entanglement" is also a word that applies to any intertwined, bonded, and deeply involved state. Whether it is the relationship between a parent and their child or between lovers, friends, or even enemies, meaningful relationships all involve some measure of entanglement. Our relationship with the planet - with nature, with climate change, with our natural resources - is deeply entangled also.
As humans we are all entangled, for better or for worse. But the opposite of entanglement is not freedom, it is isolation. We need and are dependent on one another. Not only in our family units or relationships, but locally, and globally – as co-inhabitants of this earth we are inextricably in it together.
